Concrete jungle safari
I am on the prowl.
Unnatural habitat.
Spectators and animals
Alike. Freely roam.
Seemingly unafraid.
Crossing the road in hordes
Taxis in a queue
Green light sends them asunder
The lunch hour is a busy time
Church bells ring distant
Food doesn't sate urban hunger.
Wonder what creature left this
Curious pattern
Of ash droppings behind.
I spot one anon, who has
His head in the clouds
Of smoke, possibly seething.
Much like his car, fueled by coal
This man finds his fuel
In the bright glowing embers.
The growl of a motorbike,
Catches my fancy.
On haunches at the STOP sign.
An average consumer
He uses every drop
Poured into the large fuel tank.
He bought his tickets same as
Everyone here.
He will do as he pleases.
A maiden fair, or so she
Appeared from afar.
Mirage in the gray jungle.
Elusive prey in the morn,
Baited easily,
With a sharp suit and silk tie.
Spotted yet another such
A siren. Boded
Evil, much like mythology.
The wailing sound affected
Only the young and
Not as much as it should have.
Most did not even look to
Find out whether 'twas
A fire, a theft or death.
How funny are we? Humans,
Bargaining with fate,
Tired of life yet scared of death.
Surviving each day as if,
'twas a rigmarole.
Living as if on parole.
Man is the most confusing.
Bound by his own fence.
'Tis not a circus or zoo.
Where is your prison, you fool?
Sky is the limit
Shake shackles off while you can.
Escape the manmade reserve,
Or do not. Just stay
And still be free as you were
Meant to be the day you were
Born. Like animal.
This is the greenest pasture.
You were chosen to be this
One of possibly
The only intelligent
Species known to exist now
In the entire
Expanse of the universe.
