Step off the grass near MSC to pay your respects to fallen Aggies

The grass is greener here, ma,
The grass is greener.
I am sorry I could not make it home in time for dinner.

Don't let them follow me here, ma,
Do not let them follow.
I did what I could for them to have a tomorrow.

Keep me in your memories, ma,
Names fade, Deeds last.
I hope the war is won now.
I hope they never have to step on this grass.

Twelfth Man

Ae Whoop! rings out the mighty Yell,
The 12th man stands in rain or hail.
In the glaring Texan heat, the sun always wins.
And yet the 12th man stands as sure as  the Earth spins.
And Kyle field is packed by 6 a m,
We are here as one, we are A&M.
Football is a tradition, it is not just a game.
We are Aggies by blood, not just Aggies by name.
Gig 'em!

The pursuit of purpose.

Are we alone in the universe? Is there a greater intelligence than ours? Do we have a purpose? Why do we exist? Nihilism says humans have no purpose. Creationists believe that a God created us, but they don’t know why he did that. No holy scripture sets out an ultimate goal for humanity. Religion offers subtle guidelines of how to search for purpose, but for the most of it, religion preaches about the greater good. It l...

Am I ready to become a mother?

No, I am not married nor in a committed relationship. No, I am not sexually active nor am I thinking of adoption. Today I am 26 years old and am wondering : am I ready to be a mother? I am thinking about this because there is a right time for everything and today is the right time to wonder about this particular phase of my life. Let me tell you a little more about myself. I am an engineer with a master's degree in control theory and am currently enrolled in a doctoral program. Being a student at this age is not fun. My friends have moved on in their lives and are successful in their jobs, are aspiring home-owners and parents. My family has just moved on and has stopped worrying about me, since I am a grown up. Financial independence means earning enough to cover rent and living in perpetual credit card debt. Add to that the onus of repaying student loans. My long distance relationship ended when my boyfriend did not long for me anymore and became distant. Times two. Getting a PhD ...
